چکیده

HE development of the testes and associated organs in Drosophiln melanoT g m t m has been studied by many investigators (STERN 1940. 1941a. b; STERN and HADORS 1939; URSPRUNC 1963). A review of the literature has been given by RODI:.NSTIXN (1950). During the larval and early pupal stages. the testes are ellipsoidal in form. Following attachment of the testes to the developing seminal vesicles. the testes elongate and become coiled (Figure 1). If attachment does not occur. the testes fail to develop in this manner. The seminal vesicles. accessory glands. vas deferens. cjaculatory duct. sperm pump and posterior end of the intestine develop from the genital disc (IJRSPRUNG 1963). A mechanism altering the development of the genital disc can inhibit attachment and therefore clonga-

Deletion analysis of the tumorous-head (tuh-3) gene in Drosophila melanogaster.

In the presence of the naturally occurring maternal-effect alleles tuh-1h or tuh-1g, the tuh-3 mutant gene can cause the tumorous-head trait or the sac-testis trait. The tuh-3 gene functions as a semidominant in the presence of the tuh-1h maternal effect. Eye-antennal structures are replaced by posterior abdominal tergites and genital structures. If tuh-1h is replaced by its naturally occurring...

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)

Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...

Identification of the Doublesex protein binding sites that activate expression of lozenge in the female genital disc in Drosophila melanogaster

Normal sexual differentiation in the genital organs is essential for the animal species that use sexual reproduction. Although it is known that doublesex (dsx) is required for the sexual development of the genitalia in various insect species, the direct target genes responsible for the sexual differentiation of the genitalia have not been identified. The lozenge (lz) gene is expressed in the fe...

Multiple Quantitative Trait Loci Influence the Shape of a Male-Specific Genital Structure in Drosophila melanogaster

The observation that male genitalia diverge more rapidly than other morphological traits during evolution is taxonomically widespread and likely due to some form of sexual selection. One way to elucidate the evolutionary forces acting on these traits is to detail the genetic architecture of variation both within and between species, a program of research that is considerably more tractable in a...

Toxicological Evaluation of a New Lepidopteran Insecticide, Flubendiamide, in Non-Target Drosophila melanogaster Meigen (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

Background: Flubendiamide, comparatively a new pesticide designed to eradicate lepidopteran insect pests is known to have low risk to birds, mammals, fish, algae, honey bees, non-target arthropods, earthworms, soil macro- and micro-organisms, non-target plants as well as sewage treatment organisms; however, the risk assessment for aquatic invertebrates from metabolite could not be finalized wit...
